The Voice Newsletter October 2023 Ray Hefner, Executive Director

October is quickly coming to an end, and Halloween is around the corner. 2023 is quickly coming to an end, but there is still plenty of time to get involved with the ASCC. You have heard the old cliché, “you only get out what you put in.” Sure, you have paid your dues and maybe you have participated in webinar or maybe you even came to Annual Conference. Did you know, there is a lot more you can give and receive from ASCC? For starters, as we near the year’s end, committees and councils are looking for a few good people. What is your interest? Maybe you want to help with the Annual Conference or serve on the MAC Board of Directors. Now is the time to make yourself available and give back to the industry and learn along the way. Need some ideas to enrich your professional experience courtesy of ASCC? Here are few suggestions:

  • Make a commitment to listen to a Webinar a month. They are all archived for your listening pleasure.
  • Think about attending the Concrete Executive Leadership Forum, in Vermont in 2024. It is an experience you will never forget.
  • Why not volunteer to be a Mentor! Help the “newbies” of the industry. They need you, and ASCC needs them. Remember, someone helped you once!
  • How about joining a MIX Group and learning from your peers who will also learn from you? Orientation will be held in the Spring.
  • Browse through the position statements and find one that you forgot about; it might just come in handy!
  • Have any safety questions? Contact Joe Whiteman who is just a click of the mouse away. Joe can solve all your safety issues big or small!
  • Visit the ASCC social media platforms to see what is new at the ASCC and the industry. We’re getting better every day.

Even though the year is moving like Frosty the Snowman down a snow-covered hill, it is not too late to make a deposit into your future with the ASCC, which will pay dividends now and later!
