First Place: Vertical Facades / Under 5000 SF

This project called for board form look walls on fire place surrounds and a showcase wall.  The owners wanted a tight seam wood look with minimal variances in the finish; a tough task seeing how all concrete needed to be pumped from the rooftop, a 15-18 foot drop.  Custom made panels and preparation of all boards was very tedious.  Each board was examined for the proper grain, then lightly sandblasted, power-washed, heated and left outside.  The challenging aspects were laying out the panels with the proper overlapping to hide all seams.  The bracing had to be precise and strong enough to hold back the pressure from pumping concrete from the rooftop.
