2019 DCC Award Winner
888 at Grand Hope Park, Trademark Concrete Systems

First Place: Cast-in-place – Special Finishes / Over 5000 SF

At 888 Grand Hope Park, Trademark created a new amenity space on top of an existing 8-story parking garage in downtown LA.  The deck consists of 15,300 SF of decorative concrete paving and 1,700 LF of curbs and walls.  The biggest challenge was constructing the CIP concrete benches and walls, as they were placed over foam, and the height and width of the battered walls varied constantly.  They also included a difficult light niche that required foam strips to be placed in the formwork to create the block out.  This was especially tricky when the benches and walls had a radius.  Another challenge was the logistics of getting the materials (rebar, wire mesh, foam fill, forming materials, concrete, etc.) up eight stories.
